How it works

How does it work?

Subscription

To access the Nortrip Guide, you need an active Nortrip subscription. The subscription is digital, and your Nortrip pass is stored in the app. No physical cards or stickers are sent out.

In short

As a Nortrip subscriber, you can park your motorhome or caravan for up to 24 hours free of charge at all Nortrip hosts. You must show a valid digital Nortrip subscription upon arrival. Hosts usually offer 1–3 parking spaces, and at most hosts you can pre-book up to two days in advance. Check the host profile for contact information and booking preferences.

Questions and answers

Is it a summer-only concept?

No. Many hosts are open all year round and welcome visitors in every season. The concept is ideal for travelers who want to explore Norway and Sweden even outside the high season.

Are you required to make a purchase at the Nortrip hosts?

No, there is no obligation to buy anything. However, there is often an unspoken expectation that guests support the host by purchasing some of their products or services. Our hosts are passionate about what they do and truly appreciate it when visitors show their support — but it’s entirely up to you.

Can you book a parking space?

Most hosts are part of our booking system, allowing you to reserve a space up to two days in advance. Hosts not using the booking system either offer drop-in (no reservation needed) or prefer that you call ahead. This information is shown in each host’s profile in the app, so remember to check before your visit.

Can large vehicles use the concept?

Some locations are narrow or not suitable for large vehicles. Check the host profile to see if vehicles over 10 meters and/or heavier than 3.5 tons are allowed.

Can you use a caravan, rooftop tent, or regular tent?

Yes, both caravans and vehicles with rooftop tents are welcome. Regular ground tents are not included in the Nortrip concept.

Is there a time limit for parking?

Yes. The idea is that travelers should have a place to stay overnight before moving on. You may stay for a maximum of 24 hours at each host, but you can arrange with the host if you’d like to stay longer into the next day. This ensures fair rotation so that more travelers can visit.

Do hosts have to offer facilities?

No. Part of the Nortrip concept is simplicity. Most motorhome and caravan travelers are self-sufficient with water and toilets. Some hosts may, however, offer additional services such as electricity, water, or toilets/bathrooms open 24 hours. In such cases, it’s up to the host whether to charge for these services. If you need water or a bathroom, check the host profile first.

How long does the subscription last?

Your Nortrip subscription is valid for 365 days from the purchase date and renews automatically until canceled.

How many parking spaces does each host offer?

Hosts are not meant to operate like campsites. Most offer between 1 and 3 parking spaces for Nortrip subscribers.

How are hosts selected?

We carefully select hosts who are hospitable, understand the Nortrip concept, and offer quality products, services, or experiences. Natural surroundings and location also play a role in our selection. New hosts are continuously added to the Nortrip Guide.

Can I set up camping equipment?

Always ask the host before setting up any camping equipment. If there’s enough space, it’s usually fine — but you must pack it down for the night. This should always be agreed upon with the host.

Can I use a motorhome or caravan without a toilet?

Yes, but only when visiting hosts that have toilets available 24 hours a day. Many have toilets open during business hours only, which close in the evening. If you don’t have your own toilet, make sure to check in the app whether the host offers 24-hour toilet facilities. You can also use this as a search filter.
